I'm thoroughly confused on that since that's what I want butĭon't see anything else to try to get it.Ĭan someone please give some insight on how to get this working? I have my iPad's Mail app working fine in this regard. I've checked in my Gmail settings (on their site) and on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab, I already have "Auto-expunge on" and "Archive the message" when a message is marked as deleted.įurther, I've seen other support posts here that say the default behavior when pressing the Delete button for them is the exact opposite of what I see (they say it archives instead of trashes). I need this so that I can retain search history of old messages. I want the Delete button to just remove the item from its current location and "archive" it instead (not go to Trash). The problem is that if I press the Delete button in the upper right of the app, it is sending my mail message to the Trash in Gmail, where it get permanently deleted afterģ0 days.
